Is your work influenced by season or changing weather?
My blankets are influenced by season and weather. I chose to make them with cotton that is farmed in Virginia. The weight and weave of the blankets makes them cozy for winter time snuggling and also light enough to take to the beach in the summer.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever gotten in the mail?
A love letter.
What is your favorite holiday tradition (new or old)?
I don’t have any as of yet, but it’s never too late to start making new traditions.
How do you find comfort?
Every morning, the simple pleasure of drinking a hot cup of strong, black coffee is enormously comforting to me. I like to drink it as I walk my dog early in the morning. The quiet city streets and my thoughts and the hot coffee with my dog trotting next to me are a daily ritual I enjoy immensely and look forward to every morning–with the exception of when it is 0 degrees outside. It is of note too, that the coffee mug is a key factor in this daily experience. I have this camp mug with the most perfect handle that doubles as a french press and I make my coffee in it everyday. I am really, really attached to this mug, the experience is not the same with any other mug.
Do you have a favorite fall/winter/holiday memory?
Raking leaves and jumping in the pile!
What is your go-to holiday dish?
In the fall as the holidays near, I love to go apple picking in Michigan and then bake homemade apple pie to share with friends. My crust “secret” ingredient is vinegar!
Also I am trying to write regular blog posts, please do check in with my meanderings there as well http://studioherron.com/blog/
